CAAPA is commited to organizing China-related panels at the annual conferences of Association of Budgeting and Financial Management (ABFM) and National Tax Association (NTA). You are welcome to submit paper proposals based on China-related data, interviews or experiences. Thank you.

The Remaking of the Chinese Administrative State

Since the 1978 Reform

 
               December 2008 will be the 30th anniversary of China’s launching of its Opening and Reform Program. To celebrate this great occasion and to examine the theoretical as well as practical aspects of China’s successes and lessons in the past three decades, the Center for Public Administration Research and the School of Politics and Government at Sun Yat-sen University, and the China-America Association for Public Affairs (CAAPA) are to hold a joint symposium from December 13-14, 2008, in Guangzhou, China.

Invited scholars in public administration and related disciplines in China and abroad will deliver speeches from their own respective perspectives. We sincerely invite you to attend the symposium with an original research paper on a specific topic in your research area but related to the theme of the symposium.

The theme of the symposium is “The Remaking of the Chinese Administrative State Since the 1978 Reform.” Scholars in public administration, government, political science and other related fields are welcome to submit paper proposals that contribute to the discussion of the theme. An edited book of the papers presented at the symposium is to be published within 2008. For this purpose, proposals should be submitted by May 15, 2008, all authors of accepted paper proposals are encouraged to send the finished final draft of their paper to the Symposium by October 1, 2008. To better facilitate more thorough discussion and exchange of ideas, this symposium will allocate more time than our past symposiums for the presentation papers. Besides, each presenter will be the discussant of another paper.
